It's Friday Eve and it's time to celebrate, you know, before all the celebrating that will go on this weekend. That means I'll be heading to the Larimer Lounge, which will be hosting a bit of a dance party tonight to help get things going. Tonight it's all about electro-pop, with one touring band and a couple local dance inducing specialists. It'll be a night that seems like both the past and future in music have collided, melding into fresh sounds for the here and now.
Tonight's headliner comes to Denver by way of Tennessee. Cherub is the electro-pop duo of Jordan Kelly and Jason Huber whose sound is rooted in the past, especially in '80s funk, but who also have an eye for the future. They take retro funkiness and match it with modern indie dance by mating uptempo beats with smooth harmonies, a little talkbox and a healthy dose of guitar and synth. Check out "Disco Inferno".

ManCub will be joining this sexy party tonight - a local electro/noise-pop duo that this blog just can't get enough of. ManCub rocks parties with their analog synthesizer driven sound, creating music that is some parts noise-pop, some parts dream-pop, and all parts awesome. Check out "The New Sound".

Hollagramz will be kicking off the night with a DJ set of their own. This local electronic duo produces some sweet original dance tracks that combine elements from UK funky/garage music and tropical beats, but they can also put together a seamless mix that should get the dance floor charged. Check out their remix of Holy Other's "Touch".
