It seems like the Hi-Dive has been on a roll lately, starting the year of strong with one good show after another. January has been great so far, and February is looking just as good. Concerted Effort is proud to present another local showcase at the Hi-Dive, one that will surely get the crowd dancing in a host of different ways. Three Denver bands with three different styles will join together on February 11th with one goal in mind - getting the dance floor nice and sweaty.

The headliner is local indie rock group Snake Rattle Rattle Snake. Somehow this five piece band eluded me last year despite my desire to see them live, so I'm excited to finally get the chance. Their indie rock sound is dance driven, but not in the way one might normally think. They combine somewhat pop-like elements through rhythms and certain melodies with a distinctive helping of moody darkness - think electroclash but without a dominant electronic element in their sound. Check out "Hastily".

ManCub is definitely no stranger to this blog, but this will be my first ManCub show of the new year. This indie electro/noise-pop duo creates songs with dance floor in mind using analog synthesizers and guitar pedals manipulated by hand. Word has it that they been busy this winter creating more music for the eventual release of a new album, so I would expect some new stuff might just make an appearance at this show, as this band always tends to deliver something new or different. Check out their remix of Snake Rattle Rattle Snake's "NOPD".

Men In Burka is a new Denver project from Modern Witch member Kamran Khan. I don't know much about Men In Burka's music other than it consists of bouncy, party-centric beats infused with world music influences - not something one would expect out of Denver but I love what I've heard so far. Check out "Turah".
