It's time to scratch another venue off the list. I'll be braving the cold and the snow to take a short trip down South Broadway to Moe's Original BBQ. It's a place that seemingly has it all; good food, bowling lanes, and live music. Tonight the venue will be a hosting a punk/ska showcase featuring three local bands and one from out of state. The uptempo, high energy music should do well to keep concert goers warm on this cold night.

The headliner is Denver's own Potato Pirates, a five-piece punk rock band. They play fast paced hardcore punk music with occasional influences of ska and reggae. They're set apart by their inclusion of bagpipes, making the instrument sound atypically heavy amid the guitars bass and drums. Check out their music on ReverbNation, especially "Self Made Man".

Save The Swim Team joins the lineup from Huntington Beach, CA. Save The Swim Team is a six-piece punk/ska band that combines melodic vocals and instrumental breakdowns with fast paced musical explosions and hardcore style screeching. And then they throw some some trombone and saxophone for good measure. Check out their music on their BandPage.

The Repercussions is a Denver based five-piece punk/ska/reggae band. Their sound is definitively punk/ska, but they incorporate a much heavier reggae influence - incorporating a lot of reggae-esque rhythms and beefing them up with punk attitude. Check out their music on ReverbNation.

The Ska Skank Redemption is a local seven-piece punk/ska band. This band is punk at heart but tend to let the more ska-centric brass instruments in their band take the forefront of their sound. Still, the music is very high energy and uptempo. Check out their music on BandCamp.

The doors at Moe's Original BBQ open at 8:30PM and the show starts at 9:00PM. The show is 16+ and tickets are $5.
