I've been excited about this one for a long time and if you love house music, you should be too. When it comes to electronic music, I'm a sucker for French house, so when a legendary producer and DJ from that genre comes to town, I definitely take notice. The Summit Music hall will be hosting exactly that this weekend on Saturday, September 8th with a special live set from Fred Falke.


French producer Fred Falke got his start in the music realm as a funk bass player in the mid 1990s. He turned to electronic production towards the end of the decade, the same time now prolific and influential French house artists like Daft Punk and Cassius were churning out next level fuel for the dance floor. He began collaborating with Alan Braxe - the same producer that collaborated with Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter to create the now classic "Music Sounds Better With You" under the name Stardust - and the pair went on to create a slew of quality releases throughout most of the 2000s. Fred Falke has also put out a steady stream of solo work and in-demand remixes, along with other notable collaborations with Kris Menace.



Fred Falke's latest solo work is Part IV, a full length album of productions that embraces the millennial French house sound wrapped around the signature touch Fred Falke has maintained over the years and is sought after for - it may be his first solo LP, but by no means is it his first rodeo. What makes Fred Falke's show this weekend special, aside from his pedigree as an accomplished producer, is he will be performing a rare live set that will show off his capability as a bass player as he simultaneously DJs - definitely a sight to see considering the way Fred Falke craftily drives his productions with infectious bass lines.


Before the main event, a stable of local Denver DJs will warm up the dance floor: option4, Jinro, Collin McKenna, Matt Ferry and Vanish. Currently a hot name in the local DJ scene for what he does for house music both behind the decks and off them, DJ/producer option4 (TheHundred, Lipgloss, Discotheque Collective) will lay down a house music set hot on the heels of his EP release To The Night. I have a hard time writing about myself in third person - so I'll just say Jinro will be there. Collin McKenna, a DJ who has been flexing his taste-making muscles on Star Stuff Scallywags will also be gracing the decks. Matt Ferry will be bringing the latest heat, thanks to his ties to Beatport. Vanish, option4's label mate on Velcro City Records, rounds out the opening lineup.

The third day of the Underground Music Showcase was packed with well over a hundred performances throughout the day. We caught as much as we could, capturing images from 17 different acts including: Air Dubai, A Place To Bury Strangers, BLKHRTS, Class Actress, DJ Tower, Flashlights, Gauntlet Hair, Kissing Party, Montbello Drum Line, Panal S.A. de C.V., option4, Pink Hawks, Shabazz Palaces, Slow Magic, Snake Rattle Rattle Snake, Soundboy Punishment, and TREES.

It's been a long time coming, but the wait is over: To The Night, the debut official release from Denver DJ and producer option4 is available starting today. About three years ago, option4 was slated to release an album, but an unfortunate incident robbed him of all his hard work. Understandably devastated, option4 had to start the process all over again, but that didn't come until he found new inspiration in the city he currently calls home.


After some time as a resident DJ at Lipgloss and founding a house music movement of his own called TheHundred, the moment seemed right to hit the production studio again to create a collection of songs that reflected his emotions and experiences influenced by the places he's seen and the relationships that he has built. Seeking to combine an appreciation of techno, and funky soul with house music, the four tracks on To The Night represent his interpretation.


The EP opens with the bass-laden "Sunny Side" that juxtaposes a dark tech-house feel with a hint of acid house layered under airy vocals from Aubree. "Darkworld" envelops the listener like a thick, hypnotic fog; sobering yet infectious. "Mile High Bounce" was made with Denver in mind, a tribute to the vibrant late-night/early-morning dance music scene that thrives week after week. The whole album is rooted around the fiery single "Ride On", a tech-house western inspired by a gloomy drive on the west coast that mixes acoustic guitar with thumping bass and delivers an incredible hook.


The album will be available exclusively on beatport.com for one month before hitting other outlets like iTunes, so head on over there to grab a fresh copy for yourself. Into its ninth month and showing no signs of slowing down, TheHundred is back again this weekend with another sure-to-be sweltering dance party, this time right at midsummer. They key to TheHundred's success thus far has been providing hot up-and-coming acts with local talent to create an atmosphere filled with good vibes for large, dance hungry, house music loving crowds. This weekend's lineup is no exception and should prove to be another night to remember.

The headliner is Moon Boots, a representative of the excellent French Express record label. Moon Boots' repertoire consists of nu-disco originals and remixes that are tailor made for hot summer nights. True to his name, Moon Boots creates dance music that pairs a futuristic spaced out feel with weightless ease - veritable rocket fuel for the dance floor. Check out "Got Somebody".


Also joining the lineup is Chicago based via New York DJ Lani Love. Also a fashion blogger, Lani Love incorporates her eye for style and eclecticism in her music selection, bringing that same dose of personality into her sets. The local support for this hot night of dancing starts with TheHundred founder option4, who will get the night started with a mood setting deep house set before getting the sweat flowing later in the night with some summertime house music. Jinro will keep the party going with nu-disco and bouncy, funky grooves. Hollagramz will keep the party going with a DJ set that shows off the versatility of the acclaimed local experimental electronic group.

Lipgloss, Denver's longest running club night does more than throw a great dance party every Friday night. Sometimes the prospect of quality acts coming to town can't be ignored, and Lipgloss will help throw a one-off party at another venue. That was the case when The Twelves and The Phantom's Revenge came to Denver, and the result was a wicked Wednesday night dance party that instantly became a night to remember. For those who've been along for the ride, it probably seems like it was just yesterday that TheHundred, Denver's premier non-profit monthly house music dance party, filled the dance floor for the first time. Now six months later, TheHundred is here to stay, and is celebrating the only way TheHundred knows how - with another amazing party. Over the past half year, the TheHundred has thrown packed-out events at Beauty Bar by bringing in up and coming talent, along with presenting a handful of other wildly successful shows around town. In celebration of TheHundred's six month anniversary, the formula stays the same, which means people who come to this event are in for one incredible night.


This month's headliner is Bit Funk, a Brooklyn based producer and DJ brought to Denver for the first time by TheHundred. No stranger to the game, Bit Funk's handle of synth-laden disco and indie dance has taken his talents from coast to coast to various clubs and festival showcases and has had his tracks featured on major dance labels like Hed Kandi and Defected. His style is well suited to perpetuate the good vibe and groove atmosphere that has become synonymous with TheHundred. Check out Bit Funk's rework of Rachel Lamb's "Electricity".


TheHundred's founder and resident DJ at Lipgloss, Denver's "Best Dance Institution" (Westword) will lay down a couple sets to kick the party off and keep the heat going later in the night. At the beginning of the night, option4 will keep things smooth and sexy with an early deep house set to get the crowd in the mood. Then when the party is in full swing, option4 will put together a house set to keep the sweat flowing. Check out option4's latest mixtape, "The Movement Vol. 1".


Not only does TheHundred import talent from across the country and beyond, TheHundred supports the local scene as well. Two of the local supporting acts are making return appearances to TheHundred, and as members of TheHundred themselves they know exactly what to deliver in their sets. Expect Jinro (who just may be writing this in the third person) and Collin McKenna to put together groovy house and nu-disco that'll get the crowd working the dance floor. Roger That, now back in Denver after a stint in Berlin, will get things going with a deep house set of his own. Check out mixes from each of these three down below.


The party starts at the Beauty Bar at 9:00PM and will go straight up to closing time. The event is 21+ and tickets are only $6 at the door. You'll want to get to this party early if you don't want to be stuck outside, because TheHundred is known to take the Beauty Bar to capacity.

It may have been a Wednesday night, but at the Larimer Lounge it might as well have been a disco-worthy weekend night. Without even going into the strength of the lineup, the fact that the show was presented by both Holy Underground and TheHundred were immediate tip-offs that the night was going to be a party. Over the past six months, TheHundred has been making huge waves in the local house music scene, and rightly so thanks to some amazing parties. This may have been the first Holy Underground show, but judging by what they've got coming down the pipeline, they seem to know exactly what they are doing. Wednesday night featured a solid international act and some of the biggest names in the local scene. When it all came together - it was madness.

Peter Black

The night began with an opening DJ set from Peter Black. He's someone that has put in a lot of work into Denver's scene, both on stage and and in the background, and his qualities as a tastemaker tends to shine through in his sets. Tonight was no exception. Peter Black showed off the versatility of an experienced DJ by heating up the night with some smooth mid-tempo nu-disco tracks, allowing the early crowd to settle in and latch onto the groove as the venue started to fill in. It seems that pacing is becoming a lost art, but not under Peter Black's watch. That's what makes him a great act to see no matter where he is slotted in a lineup. He set the tone early and led the crowd smoothly into the next big local act.

Flashlights

Flashlights took the stage next, an electro/dream-pop duo whose infectiously danceable sound has begun to garner them attention well beyond just this city. Ethan Converse (lead vocals) and Alex Anderson (backing vocals) took their places on the darkened stage, each behind sequencers/controllers that they would use to manipulate their eventual barrage of ethereal dance songs. As their set began with "Glowing Eyes" off Flashlight's first EP, Hidden Behind Trees, the stage went aglow as well. A light mist of fog accentuated the colorful stage lights, while the added touch of a floor lights helped fill the venue with light and color from floor to ceiling and across the venue walls.

Flashlights

The pair played a solid set of songs both old and new. The dreamier, slightly more downtempo and chillwave-esque song "New Hampshire" came next, allowing the duo to work the crowd steadily into a full on dance party as their set progressed. Selections from their latest release, So Close To Midnight made up the middle of their set, where songs like "Fireworks" and "Ruby Sun" balanced the energy of electro-pop with a decidedly dreamy character, inciting the crowd to dance up a sweat but maintain a dose of cool. Flashlights also revealed a couple new songs, ending with "Haunting Me", a dream-pop piece with a healthy helping of disco-funk and monstrously delicious bass line. Flashlights proves time and time again why they are one of the best groups in Denver right now, and if you are a fan of electro/dream-pop or just plain like to dance, you need to see them if you haven't yet.

Tiger & Woods

Next up was the main event, the European nu-disco/future-boogie duo Tiger & Woods. The two have managed to keep mum about their identities and back story, instead choosing to let their music do the talking, and on Wednesday night, their music spoke loud and clear. Behind an impressive set up that contained a huge mixer, two laptops, and a pair of sequencer/controller/samplers, the duo unleashed their mid-tempo, snare heavy, disco inspired sound on the soon-to-be-drenched-in-sweat crowd.

Tiger & Woods

Using a blend of influences that stem from Italo disco, Minneapolis funk, boogie, Chicago house and Detroit techno, Tiger & Woods got the dance floor churning to their original productions. They kept a smooth flowing set of pieces available off their full-length release, Through The Green, as bodies became entranced to their catchy bass lines and their ability to emphasize the beat. I was expecting a straight forward DJ set, but the two were recreating their songs using their computer controllers right before the crowd. It meant that there were slight variations in their set that made hearing songs like "Don't Hesistate", "Dr. Burner" and "Love In Cambodgia" all that more contagious. If you want something a little more laid back but will still get you to boogie, check out Tiger & Woods.

option4

Another seasoned local DJ, option4 joined the night's lineup, playing a closing set to keep the night's party going. Although it was a Wednesday night, much of the crowd still felt the itch to dance through the night, so option4 kept the party going for another hour as he laced together a seamless set of groovy and deep house. He also unleashed a couple of his own productions on the crowd. First, he hit the crowd with his newly released bass-heavy deep house version of Daft Punk's "One More Time", a rendition that gives the song a brand new attitude while still keeping what makes the song so recognizable. Then later, he dropped the single off his upcoming EP, an entirely original production called "Ride On". That tech-house meets western piece has a hook so good it gets crowds to sing along while they tear up the dance floor. If you love house music, option4 will supply a steady diet in his sets. Keep an eye out for his upcoming release, because his productions are on another level.

It is nights like these that make Denver such a great music scene. Promoters in the know like Holy Underground and TheHundred are great at giving people what they want - even if the people aren't sure who it is they want yet. Tiger & Woods is still pretty underground, and there aren't many cities in the country right now who are up enough on the cutting edge like that to support a show like the one Larimer Lounge had last night. But thanks to everyone in Denver's great scene and especially the fans that come out in support, we are all ahead of the curve.

It's been proven time and time again; Denver loves disco. Whenever house music and disco revival collide, people come from all around the city to boogie down on the dance floor. That was definitely the case the last time the Larimer Lounge hosted a disco party when Aeroplane came to town, and that looks likely to be the case again tonight when the Larimer Lounge hosts another excellent European nu-disco act. Tonight, TheHundred presents a surefire dance party when local heavyweights team up with Tiger & Woods.


Tiger & Woods is duo of DJ/producers that is shrouded in a bit of mystery. Somehow the two have been able to keep their backstory mostly under wraps, revealing little to the world about where they come from or what their identities are. What is known is that the pair come from Europe, and they started the project as a way to come up with some unique edits to play in DJ sets. The next thing they knew, the full length album Through The Green was born. A collection of mid-tempo disco gems that has been described as future boogie and disco-funk. Check out "Deflowered".



Flashlights will perform a set as one of the three solid local supporting acts for this show. The local duo will be performing their brand of electro/dream-pop that combines retro and contemporary influences to create a sound that is somewhere between ethereal and gilttery but engineered to be ripe for the dance floor. Their music has a glo-fi aesthetic but their passion for the party balances out any notion of 'chill'. Check out "Fireworks".



Peter Black is Denver DJ fixture who's known for continually making moves in the Denver scene. Along with  Analog Space, nowadays he just about books as many hot parties as he participates in. As a house music aficionado, he'll be sure to keep the crowd vibing hard in preparation for the full on disco party to come.


option4 is a resident Lipgloss DJ and founder of probably the hottest monthly house music night in Denver right now, TheHundred. This DJ works the crowd with ninja-like skills - he won't assault the dance floor all night long with abrasive 'bangers', instead using smooth grooves and deep house to incite dance parties - the perfect tactic to keep the dance floor packed all night long. It's been a busy month of music here at Concerted Effort, but for the last week of February things will be a little bit quieter...sort of. This weekend I will be out on the town again as usual, but I'll be trading my camera for cocktails for a birthday celebration. Concerted Effort is teaming up with the cities' best weekly Friday night dance party, Lipgloss, to throw a birthday bash for yours truly. What if there was an event that happened every month where the goal was bringing in up and coming talent chosen by popular demand and the focus on generating profit was left out of the equation? Could a non-profit dance party exist? It definitely can, and now onto its fourth month, TheHundred dance parties are quickly becoming among the most sought after nights in town thanks to its unconventional approach to booking.

The hottest, on the verge artists get scouted and hand picked by music fanatics, so the quality of the music is always fresh and top-notch. Because the parties are non-profit, tickets are always as cheap as possible, as any money generated goes to supporting the artist. The dance floor is always packed and full of good vibes because the same passionate people that brought the show are bringing energy to the dance floor, and that energy is extremely contagious. It all happens again at the end of this month, this time on Saturday, February 25th at Beauty Bar. If you are a fan of house music and dancing, save that date, because it's going to go off.


This month's headliner is Chicago born and New York based producer and DJ Brenmar. Brenmar is one of the most forward thinking artists on the scene right now, taking his love for hip-hop, R&B, bass music, house and juke and combining them into futuristic club music for the here and now. Built with a solid house foundation, Brenmar's songs will cleverly blend in Chicago style juke with the feel of nineties hip-hop and R&B. The resulting sound is a fresh, funky and undeniably fun. The founder of TheHundred, option4, will be back to lay down a couple solid sets in edition to being the curator of this party. He'll get the night started with smooth, deep, mood-setting grooves and he'll come back later in the night with disco delights. When he isn't busy presenting parties, rocking DJ sets, and teaching the world about DayRage™, he's been putting together a new original EP that he just might unleash a little taste of at this party. Peter Black is a Denver DJ making his second appearance at TheHundred. Peter Black has been busy on the scene as a DJ, lacing together mixes of smart selections from deep house, juke, bass, UK funky and more. His discerning ear and constant digging allows him to put together sets that are both danceable and full of fresh flavors. When he's not behind the decks, he is busy with Analog Space and putting on a host of events at the Meadowlark Bar. Check out his mix for Analog Space's Denver After Dark series.



Narky Stares is a DJ that is becoming a local fixture thanks to her monthly party Damn Gurl. Adept at mixing a variety of dance inducing styles, expect Narky Stares to deliver smooth and groovy house throughout her set to keep feet moving on the dance floor. Collin McKenna is making his Denver DJ debut. As a contributor to the Star Stuff Scallywags blog, he has demonstrated the qualities of a discerning tastemaker. As a member of TheHundred, he is getting the opportunity to showcase his skills at laying down a DJ set. Collin answerd a few questions to give a little more insight into who he is. Check out the interview below:

Concerted Effort: Where are you from/how long have you lived in Denver?
Collin McKenna: I was born in Salt Lake City, grew up in the Springs, and lived here for around 11 years.

CE: How did you become a part of TheHundred?
CM: I'm really honored by the fact that option4 clued me in on the concept shortly after he came up with it. I think I was like the third person he told and of course he asked me if I wanted to be a part of it at that point.

CE: What's your musical background?
CM: I played drums throughout high school in a ska/punk band. I can still play, but I'm definitely rusty. 

CE: What kind of genres/styles can we expect to hear?
CM: I plan on staying true to the house leaning vibe that we've all come to expect by setting it off with some high energy disco and funk infused house grooves. I may throw in a few surprises...we shall see.

CE: What are some of your DJ influences?
CM: I can't deny the fact that I'm a huge fan of the big room sound, but I love and continuously educate myself on many genres of dance music. That being said, it's hard to narrow it down. Seeing that I have a tremendous amount of pride for our scene, I would probably have to say the locals are my biggest influences. I really look up to Peter Black, option4 and boyhollow. They've done, and continue to do, huge things for a scene that I've taken from for so long. I'm very humbled to have the opportunity to try and give back. I'm a huge fan of Brenmar and to be able to share a bill with him for my first live set is EPIC. This day and age technology makes DJing an elementary affair. It's really not hard. It's more about the tracks you play, how you put them together and your ability to work a crowd. That being said, I have a tremendous amount of respect for those that started before the technology existed. If you can throw down a vinyl set, I welcome you to look me in my eyes and tell me I suck. I will gladly smile and nod in agreement. I've always wanted to share my love of music through DJing and I understand that everyone wants and thinks they can do that this day and age. I plan to continue to educate myself, support those around me and hope they do the same for me. I can't thank option4 enough for blessing me with this opportunity and I hope to have more like it down the road. I look forward to sharing the bill with him, Peter Black, Narky Stares and of course Brenmar! I welcome any criticism they decide to throw at me and encourage everyone else to bear with me.

By Saturday evening the skies were finally clear. The storm that started Thursday night and dumped a fair share of snow on the Denver metro area had passed. Now, not only was it the heart of the weekend, but people finally had the chance to go out again after staying holed up to get away from the bad weather. The best remedy for cabin fever was at the Summit Music Hall, as Lipgloss, TheHundred and Girls & Boys Denver presented a dance party perfect for releasing the extra energy people stored away while waiting for the weather to clear.


The night began with a trio of local support. CLUB COLD duo London Dungeon, Lipgloss/Girls & Boys Denver founder boyhollow, and TheHundred founder option4 traded DJ sets to warm up the night. All three acts rotated thirty minute long sets all the way up until it was time for the headliner, making sure to keep the music flowing but varied so that the dance party would never reach a lull. The rotation approach gave each act a chance to play two sets - one for the early crowd and one when the venue got packed much tighter.

London Dungeon

London Dungeon, the duo of Van Kalsing and Thrashton Kutcher, kicked off the night and kept it going later with a house music set. They played a variety of house music styles, trending toward the deeper side of the genre at times, to get the crowd into the dancing mood. Their early set welcomed the early crowd, as people began to file toward the dance floor right away. Their later set maintained the energy that the opening acts were steadily building up until the main event.

boyhollow

Experienced DJ boyhollow unleashed an eclectic variety of electronic music on the crowd in his sets that really hyped the crowd. Despite the limitations of working with divided, shorter sets, he managed to work in classic disco, indie dance, house and even a few doses of electro bangers. Although he mixed music from all over the place, his mix never seemed haphazard thanks to boyhollow's ability to maintain a steady, seamless flow from one song to another.

option4

Smooth house aficionado option4 not only brought out very danceable, crowd-pleasing grooves during his sets, he also brought with him an energetic stage presence that constantly fed energy to the dance hungry crowd. His set consisted mainly of mid-tempo house that put dancers in a good mood, and he transferred positive energy to the crowd not only through his music but also through his demeanor. He got the audience to dance along, put their hands in the air, and go crazy at all the right moments, getting the crowd charged for the final act to come.

Passion Pit DJ Set

Finally, it was time for the DJ set the crowd had been waiting for. A couple members of the acclaimed electropop group Passion Pit were in house, and they were ready to share a dance-inducing DJ set of their own. Passion Pit bassist Jeff Apruzzese and drummer Nate Donmoyer were in house to represent the band. Jeff Apruzzese quickly took charge of the wheels of steel, churning out a house music set that kept the Summit Music Hall dance floor crowded all the way to the night's end.

Passion Pit is known for their intricately arranged brand of electropop with a unique sound derived from its synth heavy footprint, but the Passion Pit DJ set definitely explored electronic music outside of those boundaries. Electing to reveal a few influential dance tracks and personal Passion Pit party favorites, the set featured a lot of tracks that came from throughout the umbrella of house music. The set did sneak in a few of Passion Pit's original tunes, but the focus on this night was an expression of the band's house music appreciation through a steady, seamless mix.

The crowd responded well to all acts the entire night. The venue began to fill early and stay packed late as the spirited crowd came to dance, enjoy great mixes, and just generally have a good time. The non-stop DJ mix format meant the action never died down, and allowed people to cycle in and out of the heart of the crowd at their leisure. The constant variety of music leading up to the headliner kept the song selection interesting and kept the dance floor bubbling all night long. Having a show put on by the minds that throw some of Denver's best weekly and monthly parties assured that the crowd was in good hands, and by the end of the night any lingering notions of cabin fever had been melted away.

Stow away those snow boots and pull out those dancing shoes because it's Saturday night so that means it's time to hit the dance floor. Lipgloss, TheHundred and Girls & Boys Denver - three of the freshest dance parties in the city - have teamed up to present a dance night so hot it will melt all your cold weather cares away. For fans of electronic dance music, this night should definitely deliver.


The party is headlined by members of the indie electro-pop/synth outfit Passion Pit. This band is known for performing intricately designed indie elctronic pop masterpieces with a unique footprint but enthralling ability to work crowds into a sweaty dance fest. So what happens when they put together a DJ set? Expect to hear an eclectic mix that will keep the dance floor crowded, as Passion Pit puts together a mix featuring originals, remixes and influences. They could play just about anything, but here's a Miike Snow remix of "The Reeling" to whet your appetite.



When boyhollow isn't busy running his weekly parties at Lipgloss and Shag Lounge, planning the next Girls & Boys Denver event, or opening for big acts that come to town, he's busy putting together a sweet party to present. This is one of those nights, but boyhollow isn't one to just stay behind the scenes. He may have put this party together, but that doesn't mean he won't contribute to it. Expect to hear boyhollow's trademark versatile sound, where he can stream together a number of genres into a very danceable mix to elicit the most crowd response. London Dungeon is quickly becoming one of Denver's busiest dance music DJ duos, thanks to their hard work ethic and ability to string together amazing live mixes. Van Kalsing and Thrashton Kutcher should be at it again tonight, playing off of their dynamic to put together a mix that will encompasses a number of house music genres. Check out their weather appropriate mix titled "The First Snow".



As the founder of one of Denver's hottest new monthly parties, TheHundred, option4 has demonstrated he knows what it takes to bring people a phenomenal club night. On a weekly basis, he also resides at Lipgloss, feeding the crowd a steady diet of groovy house that keeps audiences coming back for more. Tonight, he should be at it again, delivering dance-inducing house music like only option4 can. Check out his remix of Exosphere's "Violet Winter".

TheHundred is back again and the first party of the new year is going to be big. TheHundred is now into its third installment, and after a successful launch and sophomore effort, TheHundred is proving that the hype is real. Come to Beauty Bar on Saturday, January 28, as this month's party is a double headliner event featuring visiting and local talent. Local support from members within TheHundred round out this strong lineup, essentially guaranteeing another memorable night.


The first headliner is Kris Barman, one of the members of Innerpartysystem. Innerpartysystem may have gone on hiatus, but Kris Barman has stayed busy producing music and dropping DJ sets. He'll be bringing a house set sure to ignite the dance floor that should feature a range of styles. Expect him to mix hard house, disco, throw in a few mash-ups, and incorporate some of his own original remixes and productions. Check out his mixtape from last fall.

The second headliner is Weaponry from Chicago. Weaponry is a veteran Chicago DJ, really making strides in the city over the past five years. He's held down residencies at People Lounge and Uptown Lounge, and is coming to Denver to share his ability to rock parties. Although he can mix a variety of styles, expect a mixture of deep house and disco that will get the crowd grooving. Check out his Hot Bizzies Mix #13.

For local support, TheHundred founder will take the decks both early and later on in the night. True to his style, option4 will be putting together mixes of smooth grooves. Ginger Perry is a DJ that's been all over the Denver scene, making her first appearance at TheHundred. Ginger Perry is extremely versatile, known to mix a variety of styles - everything from dance inducing house to laid back downtempo and anything in between. Last month Denver was introduced to an exciting new concept: a house music based party for the people by the people now ubiquitously known as TheHundred. The night was a rousing success, as people came in droves to see what the hype was about and dance the night away. But the real test was the sophomore effort - could the concept endure or would it just be a flash in the pan? Would people still be interested in taking a ride once the new car smell wore off? By the look of things last night, this town is ready to strap in for the long haul and go wherever TheHundred can take them, as the second installment of this ever-growing party passed the test with flying colors.

Roger Sampson

The night began a little earlier than last time, with more local support billed to get the dancing started. Discothreat was originally slated to kick off the evening, but ended up not able to make it, so option4 threw down a spontaneous opening set of smooth grooves to begin the night. He was followed by Roger Sampson, a Chicago transplant now based in Denver. Roger Sampson took the stage and began to fill the venue with silky deep house with a disco flair, getting the early crowd in the dancing mood as people began to filter in to the venue. His mid-tempo mix was a good introduction to what the night would bring.

Matt Ferry

Next up was Denver local Matt Ferry, who setup behind the decks with plenty of musical freshness in tow. He followed the previous act's lead with a fluid house music mix of his own, revealing Matt Ferry's propensity to find the latest and greatest tracks and stream them together into something seamless. His mostly instrumental house set conjured up the feeling of a discotheque as his song selection featured music that struck a balance between retro disco-funk and modern danceability.

Dylan Le Disko

Dylan Le Disko took the stage next, and as the dance floor began to pack he used his mix to turn up the intensity dial a couple of notches. Dylan Le Disko exhibited versatility behind the decks, as his style usually involves a combination of disco-like house mated with hard hitting electro, but to keep with the smooth house theme, Dylan Le Disko had to figure out how to achieve that same effect without using anything too gratuitous. By the sound of it and by the look of the crowd on the dance floor, I'd say he did a job well done thanks to his careful selection of nu-disco songs that took people right where they wanted to be.

With the Beauty Bar dance floor now packed with a crowd dancing shoulder to shoulder and good vibes through the roof, option4 hit the decks next, latching onto the energy in the room and piping in much more like only this seasoned DJ could. True to his characteristic style, option4 began to string together a solid mix of groovy house, inciting madness on the dance floor. As he was laying down tracks, I couldn't help but feel like he was in my head - I'd be feeling one song and would think to myself what I'd like to hear next and like magic option4 would bring in that track next. Yet at the same time, he would drop some unexpected hotness that kept wide smiles on the faces of the crowd with some crazy disco-tised mashes and remixes. The temperature in room probably doubled by the time option4 was finished behind the decks, so one was left to wonder if people would still have anything for the dance floor.

MyKill

Once the headliner MyKill took the stage, any inkling of wonderment about the stamina of the crowd vanished - people were going to party until the very end and leave everything on the dance floor. San Francisco DJ/producer MyKill took the night to the next level with a mix of his originals and crafty selections of French style filter disco. It was the perfect progression to cap a night of good music, making the whole event a solid experience. From the very onset of his mix, MyKill brought the intensity in the room to its peak and never let go until the house lights came on and people had to be ushered out the door at closing time. The Bay Area has known about MyKill for quite some time, and now Denver had the chance to see why he is held in such high regard. If you are a fan of house music, MyKill is definitely worth checking out.

If you aren't clued into TheHundred just yet, don't sleep on it much longer. This party has a vibe unlike any other and it'll only continue to grow. The upcoming year has big things in store for TheHundred, so keep your eyes peeled!
